Pakistanis commemorate the 24th anniversary of the country’s nuclear tests:

Today commemorates the 24th anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear power status as the world’s only Muslim-majority country. Every year on May 28th, “Youm-e-Takbeer” is observed to memorialize Pakistan’s 1998 nuclear tests. Pakistan becomes only the seventh country in the world to possess nuclear weapons.

After India conducted nuclear tests a few years before Pakistan, Pakistan had no choice but to develop its own nuclear weapons. The fundamental motivation for this decision was to avoid military retaliation from any country, especially India, and to maintain a regional power balance.

Tests of Nuclear Weapons:

Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was instrumental in realising Pakistan’s dream of becoming a nuclear power. Pakistan successfully conducted its nuclear tests in the Rasko hills in the Chaghi area of Balochistan in retaliation to India’s five nuclear tests.

Pakistan’s foreign office issued a clear statement stating that the country is a peace-loving and peaceful nation. Any reprisal against the sovereign state, on the other hand, will be met with an equally vehement response, according to the statement.
