Samina Baig:
Samina Baig, a well-known Pakistani mountaineer and the first and only Pakistani woman to reach the peak of Everest, made it to the top of K2 on Friday morning.
At 8,611 meters, Mount K2 in the Karakoram Range is the second-highest mountain in the world.
Samina is the only woman from Pakistan to have scaled both the highest and second-highest mountains in the world after she successfully ascended the “Savage Mountain.”
The 31-year-old was a member of a ten-person team and is the first female Pakistani to summit Mount Everest. She also has the distinction of climbing the Seven Summits, the world’s seven highest peaks.
At the age of 22, Baig, a Gilgit-Baltistan native, became the first woman from Pakistan to summit Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, in 2013.
Naila Kiani, meanwhile, is the second woman from Pakistan to reach the top of the second-highest mountain in the world.
Samina Baig has received appreciation from social media users for his valiant deed.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also complimented Samina after her summit ended successfully.
K2’s summit experiences winds that can gust over 200 kph (125 mph) and temperatures that plunge to minus 60 °C (minus 76 Fahrenheit).
K2 expeditions:
Lebanese- Along with mountaineers from Pakistan and over a dozen other nations, Nelly Attar, a Saudi fitness specialist, is participating in the expedition to climb K2, commonly known as the “Savage Mountain.”
The group includes climbers from Pakistan as well as the US, Lebanon, Nepal, the Philippines, Estonia, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Argentina, and the UK.
Attar is one of the 1,400 international mountaineers who are traveling to Pakistan this year to climb several mountains in the country’s northern regions.
